CityVault is Here!

Citynet’s newest product to be introduced is CityVault a service that provides secure, remote storage of data from PCs, Laptops, Desktops and Servers.

In today’s environment it is impossible to foresee a catastrophic event that will interrupt or destroy the hard drive of a computer or server.  We know it is going to happen, just not when!  Long term power outages, unrealized battery drain, hard drive crashes, and damage caused by natural or purposeful occurrences can destroy businesses.  The restoral interval is long and very costly.  Also, while many businesses back up critical data, statistics show that this back up is often NOT in a secure, remote location.  In such cases, the risk of permanently losing all data is too high to forecast.

CityVault provides an absolute secure, remote location that provides instant access 24X7X365 to stored data.  Via a secure high speed connection, data is placed on the CityVault servers remotely.  Each customer’s data is then further protected via multiple security measures which ensures the data owner complete piece of mind and very quick restoration of all of their important files.

Craig Behr, VP Citynet Managed Network Services said of the new CityVault service “This is a very cost effective product that provides customers with superb security for their data while providing an extremely easy way to back up data remotely.”  Customers simply tell CityVault when to perform the back up and it’s done!  Even open files are easily secured.  Customers have options of how often back ups are conducted and the amount of bandwidth to utilize (thus allowing other higher priority services to run unimpeded).

Citynet Network Expansion

Citynet’s network is preparing to expand with collocated facilities in Central Offices in the communities of Suncrest, WV; Bridgeport, WV; and Fairmont, WV.  This will allow Citynet to provide our full suite of products and services in these important customer areas.  By locating our equipment in these Central Offices, Citynet will also be able to respond quickly to customer requests, increase product offerings, and provide additional competition which will help to maintain or possibly lower prices in these markets.

Our Buckeye friends will also see important network expansions and improvements.  Citynet will begin to provide additional calling areas in Portsmouth, Jackson, Circleville, Athens, and Dayton, Ohio.

Luther Toney, Chief Technology Officer of Citynet said of these improvements, “our network expansions, both in West Virginia and Ohio, will allow us to better serve our customers in these communities.  Customers should begin to enjoy additional Citynet services in these markets during the 4th quarter of 2008.”

Citynet Customer Appreciation Outing

Citynet and many of our customers enjoyed a day of golf and sunshine as part of our annual Customer Appreciation day.  Held recently at Bridgeport Country Club in Bridgeport, WV, the day was enjoyed by all participants.

Teams comprised of customers and Citynet employees teed off on the links to take the opportunity to network and to enjoy some “friendly” competition.  There were 96 players representing teams from businesses, as well as individual customers grouped as a team, with Citynet staff members in the overall mix.

The photo shows the team of (from left to right) Tim McNeely and Chase McClain representing Nationwide Tour Players Cup; Eric Alexander of Citynet; and Centra Bank’s Randy Williams making the nice chip to the green.

Citynet Teammate

This month we are featuring Josh Pickens.  Josh has recently been promoted to Senior VP of Enterprise and Internet Operations.  Adding to Josh’s responsibilities covering all of our enterprise systems including our VoIP based services we are also adding Core and Edge routing and IP engineering operations.

“Josh embodies everything that we are looking for in the Citynet family; he has been here from the beginning and has continued to take on anything we have asked to him to do.  He is one of the most talented team members at Citynet and that is saying something with the amount of talent we have Citynet.” said Luther Toney, Citynet Chief Technology Officer.
