Citynet Purchases Charleston Building
Last week, Citynet continued our expansion in the Charleston/Huntington market with the purchase of a new Charleston Operations Center.  The building located at 223 Virginia Street, East – in downtown Charleston contains badly needed office space for our Charleston based employees, warehouse and storage room for our customer equipment, and a Carrier Class Collocation – Central Office.  This building was the former home of West Virginia Wireless.

Jim Martin, President/CEO of Citynet said of the purchase “At Citynet, we are pleased to announce that we have purchased a new Charleston operations center.  Moving from leased offices into our own building represents the growth we are experiencing in West Virginia, especially in Charleston. This purchase is part or our renewed commitment to the State of West Virginia and its individual and business citizens.  We have added significantly to the number of employees working in the Charleston/Huntington markets and that, along with the growth of our business, requires us to secure a new and larger location.”

The building is now undergoing renovations to transform it into a next-generation, technology - centered facility which will house our Charleston employees.  “We have expanded our employees in the Charleston/Huntington area over the past few months and outgrew our leased space.  Our plan is to move into the new building in October and then begin improving the connectivity and access in the Central Office. This will improve Citynet’s ability to provide all of our communications and technology solutions to our business customers” said Luther Toney, Citynet Chief Technology Officer, who is based in Charleston.

The purchase of the building was finalized in mid-September.  More information about the sale is available on our Web site:  http://citynet.net/news.cfm?newsid=51

Fiber Assets Sold to Zayo
This week, following the purchase of the new facility in Charleston, Citynet President/CEO, Jim Martin announced the sale of non-business essential fiber assets to the Zayo Group.

“This sale is a win-win for both companies.  This transaction gives Zayo entrance into new markets while providing Citynet with additional financial resources to be used towards aggressively expanding our core business in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets that we currently serve” Mr. Martin said.

The sale consisted of 300 route miles of fiber optic transmission lines to the Zayo Group based in Louisville, Colorado.  These assets include fiber in the communities of:  Phoenix, AZ; Cincinnati, OH; Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL; San Antonio, TX, and the tri-cities area in Tennessee.

Frank Boscarillo, COO, Citynet, added “The sale of these non-core business assets represents Citynet’s corporate culture of concentrating on our core business, and our desire of being “The” provider of full service, telecommunications and network support services in the markets that we serve.”
